Community Activities

At Lochner and Schwenk we are committed to supporting organizations and events that make our community better.  To this end, we support a variety of organizations and events.  Here are some of our favorites:

Chesapeake Outdoor Group.  This charitable organization puts on a number of environmentally friendly activities, as well as the all important annual 12 oz regatta, which also supports the Annapolis Maritime Museum.  Dirk Schwenk was the 2006 Grand Prix 12 ounce champion. 

Annapolis Rotary Club. Todd Lochner is a proud member of the Annapolis Rotary Club. 

Mid Atlantic Mariners Club.  This is an organization devoted to increasing the knowledge and excellence of professionals in the marine insurance industry.  Dirk Schwenk donates his time as webmaster for the Club. 

Echo Hill Outdoor School.  This school is outside is in Kent County, on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  They provide outdoor learning experiences, focused on preserving the ecology of the Chesapeake, to school children from all over the state.

Marine Trades Association of Maryland. The Marine Trades Association promotes professionalism in the marine trades, and lobbies Maryland's legislature to encourage it to acknowledge the importance of boaters, marinas and marine facilities to the State of Maryland.

Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.  SERC provides a home for many researchers and educators that are committed to improving the Chesapeake Watershed.  Lochner and Schwenk, LLC has recently donated money to support research into the effects of increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere on life shellfish in the Chesapeake Bay.  Is there a link?  We are looking forward to finding out.
